us midwesterners all gasped when the onion announced they would be stopping their print publication this year. but in all its mighty glory, the front page of their last edition brought back such fond memories of my career as a whole as I have spend almost all of it being a publication designer. good thing "the digital media revolution is still another 70 or 80 years away," according to them.

SMG is collecting donations for the philippine red cross to continue the aid of those recovering from hurricane haiyan. i was grateful to lend a hand in designing the button they will be giving to those that donate.

i am missing thanksgiving for the first time in my life, and it would of been the first time i would have had to explain what freelancing full time is to a whole table of nurses and confused uncles. if i were there, i would bring this handy letter written by Sara Horowitz of the Freelancers Union to help explain. but maybe i will hold on to it for christmas.

it took months to come up with a name for my new personal training business. it felt like years. but then on one rainy night in the middle of the woods out in a cabin in middle-of-nowhere maine, it slapped me right in the face. the moniker i had used since i was a teen that always described how i felt about work vs. talent. and bam. no talent battle fitness was born. now with a bright and shiny new logo. enjoy.

today marks 20 years since the beloved X-Files made its way into the deepest parts of a nerd's heart. i remember turning off all the lights and telling all my friends they couldn't call me while an episode aired. to honor this anniversary, ign has put together a top 10 standalone episode guide. many of my favorites made the cut, although D.P.O. would of been on my list. congrats, mulder and scully. you still make my heart flutter after all these years.
